Svenja Dahm is a Ilustrator and Art Director working between visual clarity and system thinking.

She is interested in reducing complexity—making content understandable, decisions visible and design more reliable.

Over the past 10+ years, she has designed campaigns, editorial formats and communication assets across digital and print—with a focus that goes beyond individual outputs. Her work centers on building structures: templates, toolkits and workflows that enable teams to produce consistent design at scale.

In parallel, she works as an illustrator, creating hand-made, often ironic pieces with a clear political and feminist stance. Her illustration work is direct, sometimes rough, and intentionally reduced to what matters.

She has worked freelance and in-house, contributing to long-term collaborations and supporting teams through rebrands, system building and day-to-day production. Her approach to design is not just about how things look, but how they work.

Values

Build systems, not one-offs | Clarity is a choice | Consistency matters | Have a point of view | Design to scale | Shared understanding over perfect execution | Make teams independent | Humor is a tool

How I work

I structure work before I design

Aligning content, goals and constraints upfront

I take ownership beyond the design

Making sure ideas hold up across teams, formats and handover

I define systems early

So ideas can scale across formats and teams

I work closely with non-design teams

Making sure decisions are understood and usable
